Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology was established in 2015 and the first batch of BA degree students was admitted during the 2015-16 academic year. It offers undergraduate programme in Sociology with Political Science and Psychology as subsidiaries. The department has a consistent record of academic excellence by achieving very good results in the university examinations

B.A Sociology is a three-year undergraduate programme where the students are introduced to sociology and all the basic concepts of sociology. B.A Sociology is the study of culture, social interaction, social stratification and social relations. It is the study of society. The undergraduate degree programme of Sociology covers things such as community & demography, crime & delinquency, collective behaviour, cultural sociology, comparative sociology, applied sociology etc.

Sociology is an excellent choice for graduate studies since it extends to a wide range of career prospects. After completing your B.A. in Sociology, become a Teacher, Counselor, or Consultant in research institutes, educational institutions, public health and welfare organizations, criminal justice branches, law firms, international welfare organizations, and medical centers. If you want to continue your education, you can opt for M.A and M.Phil or Ph.D. in Sociology.
